HOW WE WORK

Services

At ETL Architects, our work is guided by a commitment to thoughtful design, technical clarity, and long-term performance. We believe architecture should respond directly to place, climate, and craft balancing creative ambition with constructability, energy efficiency, and enduring value.

Our practice is intentionally principal-led. Every project is overseen by Edwin Tyler Lindell, RA, AIA, ensuring continuity of vision, disciplined execution, and clear communication from first idea through construction.

Our Mission & Vision

Mission: To design architecture that is thoughtful, technically sound, and deeply connected to its environment—serving clients with clarity, integrity, and care throughout the design and construction process.

Vision: To create enduring buildings that balance performance, craft, and beauty, while maintaining a focused, principal-led practice rooted in trust, collaboration, and long-term value.

conceptual design

Architectural floor plans of a multi-story building arranged side by side, displaying various rooms, staircases, and layout details.

The Conceptual Design phase establishes the project’s guiding ideas and overall direction. During this phase, we work closely with clients to understand goals, constraints, and opportunities—shaping a design vision that responds to site, climate, and program.

  • Site and contextual analysis

  • Programming and project visioning

  • Concept studies and massing exploration

  • Early feasibility and strategy discussions

schematic design

Architectural drawings of a house showing 3D views of different angles and detailed floor plans of all levels labeled below: lower level, main level, upper level, and roof level.

Schematic Design translates the initial concept into a clear architectural framework. Spatial organization, form, and scale are developed while maintaining flexibility as technical and regulatory factors are further understood.

  • Preliminary plans, sections, and elevations

  • Refined massing and spatial relationships

  • Initial coordination with consultants

  • Early cost and constructability review

design development

Architectural drawings displaying four elevation views of a modern house: east, south, west, and north, showing exterior design and structural details.

Design Development advances the schematic design into a coordinated and buildable solution. Materials, systems, and assemblies are carefully studied to align design intent with performance, durability, and execution.

  • Detailed plans, sections, and elevations

  • Material and system selection

  • Structural, MEP, and energy coordination

  • Performance and envelope strategy development

construction documenation

Detailed architectural drawing of a building roof and foundation sections with labels and measurements.

Construction Documentation produces the detailed drawings and specifications required for permitting, pricing, and construction. Clarity and precision are prioritized to minimize ambiguity and support efficient execution—particularly in high-altitude and cold-climate environments.

  • Comprehensive construction drawings and specifications

  • Code compliance and permitting support

  • Consultant integration and coordination

  • Bid-ready documentation

Construction administration

Architectural blueprints and 3D models of a multi-story staircase, including detailed plans, cross-sections, and elevation views with annotations.

Construction Administration ensures the design intent is carried through the built work. ETL Architects remains actively involved throughout construction, collaborating with contractors while serving as a clear advocate for the client.

  • Site observations and progress reviews

  • Submittal and shop drawing review

  • RFI and change management

  • Project closeout coordination
