Who we are

ETL Architects is a boutique architecture practice based in Southwest Colorado, founded and led by Edwin Tyler Lindell, RA, AIA. Rooted in the alpine environments of Telluride and the surrounding region, the firm specializes in high-performance residential and mixed-use architecture shaped by climate, craft, and context.

ETL Architects guides clients through complex design and regulatory environments with a focus on energy efficiency, constructability, and enduring design. Operating as a highly focused, principal-led studio, Edwin personally manages each project from concept through construction—working closely with owners, consultants, and builders to ensure clarity, precision, and accountability at every phase.

Edwin’s design sensibility has been shaped by a diverse architectural path spanning North Carolina, New York City, and Colorado. He began his architectural apprenticeship in Colorado before studying mathematics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he also collaborated on sustainable design work with award-winning architect Alicia Ravetto. He later earned the Dean’s Scholarship to Parsons School of Design in New York City after winning the Parsons Design Challenge, completing his architectural studies before returning to Colorado to pursue licensure and professional practice.

A licensed architect in Colorado and a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), Edwin brings nearly two decades of experience designing and managing custom residential and commercial projects across Telluride, Durango, Palo Alto, and throughout the United States. His work frequently involves technically demanding sites, high-altitude climates, and discerning clients—often in collaboration with leading regional firms including Sante Architects and Desi Chia Architecture.

An artist, craftsman, and lifelong builder, Edwin brings a hands-on understanding of materials and construction to every project. Outside the studio, his time is spent sailing, skiing, and exploring the landscapes that continue to inform his work—anchoring the practice in a deep respect for place, performance, and longevity.
